Picking the right market weight can add Revenue
National Hog Farmer, By Dale Miller Editor
All of ProPig's carcass data is entered into the MetaFarms i-Production recordkeeping
and benchmarking program, which in turn can be downloaded into DiPietre’s model.
This helps show producers what they are losing and the importance of doing a better
job of sorting market hogs, narrowing standard deviation.

production efficiencies and revenues worth an estimated $1.53 per market hog produced.

Using Production and Financial Records to Plan, Project
and Manage Forward
Dr. Tom Stein, MetaFarms, Inc.
2011 Banff Pork Seminar
In all sorts of ways it’s a new world for pork producers in North America. One consequence
of the industry’s financial stress has to do with the need for much more intense
and sophisticated use of fundamental production and financial records. Not only
do producers need this for their internally-focused production and risk management
activities, but in today’s new world they also have highly engaged ‘partners’ in
the form of lenders and packers (and others, of course, but lenders and packers
are primary). To see the presentation slides:
